Easter Eggs

My favorite thing about Easter is Easter Eggs.  Not the plastic, candy filled ones, but the hardboiled, deeply dyed ones.  It's a tradition that makes me nostalgic for my own childhood growing up in the Delta.  I loved waking up and hunting eggs in the damp grass, competing with my sister and later helping my youngest siblings find the eggs in the monkey grass and tree nooks.  This year Meredith got into the dying process, her chubby little fingers rainbow stained.  Luckily, the rain held out until noon on Easter, so I was able to be the Easter bunny and hide the eggs.  Meredith was sleeping in with a bad cold, so I let Winn start the hunt by himself.  He was so pleased to find slugs on a couple of eggs.  By the time Meredith awoke, Winn had found most of them, so while he wasn't looking I rehid the eggs in his basket for Meredith.  They had so much fun racing around the yard together hunting those brightly hued eggs.  I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!
